Our Rec Program by Age Group
4-6 – Tee Ball – Saturdays only, starting at 8:30am. We will attempt to schedule make up games on Sundays. This is an introduction to baseball fundamentals—throwing, catching and hitting. Game days are split between practice as a team and a short game afterwards against another league team.
7-8 – Baseball- Mondays or Tuesdays and Thursdays or Fridays, 2 games per week. This is a step up from Tee Ball, previously referred to as our machine pitch league. Focus is on continued fundamentals, and learning to hit pitching, play specific positions, and generally improve their baseball skills. No scores, no standings. Coach and Kid Pitch
9-10 – Baseball- Tuesday and Fridays, 2 games per week. This is live position play baseball.
11-12 – Baseball- As we have done in the past three seasons, this group will play in the Upper Chesapeake Baseball Recreation League. This league is run out of the Fallston program. Last year, we had 5 Bel Air teams that played in this league. There are 2 games per week; Tuesday AND Thursday.
13-15 – Baseball- The 13-15 age group plays in the Central Harford Baseball League. Bel Air has typically been able to provide 2-3 teams in this league. Not only will the Bel Air teams play each other, but also against other area rec councils as well. If you are a Sophomore or older playing on your high school's JV baseball team, you will not be eligible to play in this league. In addition, players who play in the spring/summer 2018 on a Club, Tournament, or similar team are not permitted to play. Typically games are played twice each week on Mondays and Wednesdays. Occasionally teams will play on a Sunday night at 6pm in lieu of a Monday game.
Volunteers – Our program is all volunteer so if you are interested in Coaching Rec, or any of our open front office positions, listed below – please register online via the Adult Volunteer registration. Here are our open positions:
13U and 15U Travel Coaches
11-12 Age Group Commissioner
Travel – Bel Air Braves
There are two different ways to register for travel baseball.
Register directly for your age group for travel try outs – this is for returning players or new, who are not interested in playing rec. If you’re not selected for the team, you still have the option to play rec, and registration fees will transfer.
Register for your age group in rec – this is for the rec player who is potentially interested in trying out. A coach will reach out (and you can reach out too – contacts HERE) and answer any questions you may have. If you are selected for the team, your registration fees will transfer.
If you’re in the 13U-17U age groups, those teams operate on a different schedule to not conflict with H.S. Baseball. You will receive information about registration directly from your coach.
If you have questions, feel free to inquire with the appropriate coach - contacts HERE
We are looking forward to another great year of Bel Air Baseball – if you have any questions, feel free to reach out -
